Privacy policy

The short version: on this website we collect your email address (and your name, if you give it) if you join our newsletter or write to us, plus the basic technical data every website receives, and we measure how the site is used with PostHog. We use it to run and improve the site, keep it safe and send you what you asked for. We don’t sell it and we don’t run ads.
This policy covers plurelinc.com and our newsletter. The Plurel app isn’t live yet; before it is, we’ll expand this policy to cover it and email everyone on the newsletter.
01Who we are
Plurel Inc. (“Plurel”, “we”, “us”) is a US company building a way for groups to pay together. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Questions about this policy go to contact@plurelinc.com.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, your first and last name if you give them, and the date and page you signed up from.
- Emails you send us: your address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and when. These are used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Bot protection: the sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals from your browser and device to tell people from automated spam. It is not used for advertising.
- Analytics: we use PostHog to see how the site is used: the pages you visit, what you click, how far you scroll, how long pages take to load, errors, and roughly where you are (city level, worked out from your IP address). It may also record how you move through a page, with anything you type into forms hidden. A cookie and your browser’s local storage keep a random ID so return visits count as the same visitor.
We don’t collect payment details, government IDs or precise location on this website, and we don’t ask for sensitive information.
03How we use it
- To send the newsletter you signed up for: product news, beta invites and company updates.
- To reply when you write to us.
- To run, secure and fix the website, including blocking spam and abuse.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our rights.
07How long we keep it
- Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Emails with us: as long as needed to handle your message and keep business records.
- Server and security logs: kept briefly by our hosting provider, then deleted.
- Analytics: kept by PostHog under its retention settings, then deleted.
08Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it or stop emailing you. Email contact@plurelinc.com from the address in question and we’ll respond within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
California residents
Under the CCPA you have the right to know what we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. In the last 12 months we have collected identifiers (email, IP address and an analytics ID) and internet activity (the pages you requested and how you used them), for the purposes above. We have not sold or shared personal information, and we don’t use sensitive personal information. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask them to show your permission. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.
Visitors from the EEA and UK
We rely on your consent to send the newsletter (you can withdraw it any time), and on our legitimate interests to run and protect the site and reply to you. You also have the right to object, to restrict processing, to data portability and to complain to your local data protection authority. Our providers are based in the United States, and your information is processed there under appropriate safeguards.
09Children
This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, email contact@plurelinc.com and we’ll delete it.
10Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, the sign-up form is protected against automated abuse, and access to the newsletter list is limited to the staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but if something goes wrong that affects your information, we’ll tell you.
11Changes and contact
When this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top. For meaningful changes, including when the Plurel app launches, we’ll also email newsletter subscribers before the change takes effect. See also our terms of use.
